Wastewater Treatment

EmTec markets and distributes a variety of bacterial wastewater treatment products designed to enhance the biological treatment of domestic, food processing, and industrial effluents. Made through proprietary biotechnology, these products use only naturally occurring, non-pathogenic bacteria, scientifically selected for their enhanced abilities to produce enzymes and degrade wastes.

Common Problems

A major problem with many wastewater treatment plants is that they are simply overloaded. For years, Wastewater Treatment Plants have relied on indigenous microbes to degrade organic wastes. Unfortunately, increased waste volume and greater waste complexity (such as grease, oil, pesticides, and other chemicals) have left many plants unable to meet today's tougher restrictions on effluent quality. Wastewater research scientists have estimated that only 5-10% of the bacteria existing in a sewage treatment plant actively contribute to the sewage treatment process, while the remaining 90-95% of the bacteria compete for the available oxygen and nutrients. Elevated effluent BOD, COD, FOG and TSS can lead to costly municipal surcharges.

Solution

Bioaugmentation, the process of adding select biological agents to a waste stream rather than relying solely on natural indigenous populations, is the solution to many wastewater treatment problems. Regular use of EmTec's wastewater treatment products increases a system's ability to degrade a wide range of wastes, resulting in greater efficiency, fewer problems, and higher quality effluent.

EmTec-WP was specially formulated for domestic wastewater treatment plants. EmTec-WP should be used if the influent from domestic (human sewage) sources is greater than 20% or if sludge reduction is needed.

EmTec-FM was specially formulated for industrial, food processing and commercial wastewater treatment plants. EmTec-FM should be used if the domestic portion (human sewage) of the influent is less than 20%. This includes factories, food processing and packaging, agriculture and slaughterhouses.
