Khlong Clean-Up
EmTec™ FIELD STUDY: Bangkok, Thailand
Problem Description
Khlong Somkid is one of branches of khlong San Sab which drains into the Chao Phraya River. More than 2,000 m3 of domestic wastewater is been discharged directly to khlong Somkid without any pre-treatment leading to high BOD (50 mg/L) and low dissolved oxygen (0.13 mg/L) throughout the khlong in addition to the muddy dark appearance and bad odor.
Solution
EmTec-WP was applied daily for two weeks in conjunction with an aeration system applied throughout the khlong.
Results
After two weeks of treatment, the bad odor significantly decreased, the BOD was reduced by 36% (32 mg/L) decreased and the dissolved oxygen level increased by 96% (1.09 mg/L).

Customer Comments
"The bad odor disappeared 2-3 days after the products were applied and up to 3-4 months after the trial ended. The khlong looks better. If the government has budget they should keep treating the khlong" – comments from the community.
